Singer

The word “singer” encompasses so much. For me, it means bringing music to life from a piece of paper and performing it in front of a live audience. I’ve been a singer my entire life and throughout the years, I’ve found it to be healing and energizing – an audience sits down in a quiet auditorium, the house lights go down, the stage lights come up and the hush that has fallen over the theatre gives way to the sound of a voice ringing out. There is a deep breath, an exhale and a loosening of shoulders and smiles spread across the faces of those present. It’s almost like magic. And that’s what I do.

Dean Regan is a “Method” singer … drawing from deep inside with each song…. His voice is surprisingly supple: at full voice big enough to ring the rafters in, say, the St. James theatre in New York without a microphone but can also be so quiet you can sometimes barely hear him with a mic. It has lovely range with a falsetto that blends into his baritone as one. And he used it all, plus enough physical energy for a couple more guys. J. Moore, Cabaret Scenes Magazine, New York, NY
